The UK Institutional Sales team is a small and dynamic group within Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s Global sales force. Responsible for institutional relationships across Corporate & Local Authority Pension Funds, Insurance companies, Family Offices, Charities, Endowments and Foundations. There will be strong collaboration within the team, but also a large degree of independence required for this role, as client facing team members are often travelling.

Placement and duration

The Off-Cycle Internship is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Investment Management Division by taking on some of the responsibilities and functions of a Full-time Analyst for a short period.

The internship will commence in January 2027 and typically lasts six months. This internship will offer you an exciting and a dynamic work environment where you get to work alongside our diverse group of experienced professionals. The work that you do will be interesting and varied.

Training Program

You will receive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support senior sales professionals in preparing client pitches, presentations, due diligence materials and RFP responses for some of the UK's largest institutional investors
  • Liaise with investment teams and specialist product teams to gather insights, market commentary and investment content for client meetings and proposals
  • Gain exposure to institutional clients including pension funds, insurers, charities, endowments, foundations and family offices
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of client events, conferences, roundtables and thought-leadership initiatives
  • Support client relationship management activities, including meeting preparation, follow-up actions and maintaining accurate client records
  • Respond to client requests for fund information, performance data, due diligence materials and market updates
  • Conduct market research and mapping across the UK institutional investment landscape to identify business development opportunities
  • Lead project-based initiatives to improve team processes, reporting and operational efficiency
  • Maintain sales pipeline reporting, CRM records, marketing distribution lists and management information

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

  • Excellent academic background and have graduated from university or able to take the time off to commit for a full-time internship role for six months if you are currently in study
  • Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A keen interest in working in investment management and sales
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills and feel comfortable working with large data sets
  • Detail orientated and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently and effectively
  • Track record of being proactive, self-motivated, goal-orientated with a strong work ethic
  • Proven team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the team, MSIM and the broader organisation
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) is a plus
