Accounts and Tax Assistant - Making Tax Digital

(MTD) Accounts & Business Advisory – Associate

As a Making Tax Digital (MTD) Assistant, you’ll prepare quarterly MTD and VAT submissions and end-of-year declarations, ensuring UK tax compliance. You’ll join a newly formed, collaborative team using automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy and client outcomes.

The Role

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and income/expenditure
  • Prepare and submit MTD Income Tax and VAT returns to HMRC
  • Prepare VAT returns for general clients where required
  • Maintain workflows, meeting strict deadlines
  • Use digital tools such as Xero and Dext

Core & Technical Skills

  • Professional, confident client communication and query resolution
  • Strong client service focus with appropriate escalation
  • Understanding of job recovery, efficiency and continuous improvement
  • Experience with accounting software (Xero preferred)
  • VAT compliance knowledge desirable
  • Awareness of legislative changes and emerging risks

Qualifications

  • Studying towards or holding an accountancy or tax qualification (e.g. ATT), or qualified by experience, with skills developed in an accountancy practice.
