“Step into a role where advanced practice meets real impact — become an ACP and change the way care is delivered.”

Are you ready to take your clinical career to the next level? We are looking for a dynamic, skilled, and motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our welcoming, forward‑thinking, and highly dynamic team at Whitworth Urgent Treatment Centre.

Here, you’ll be part of a supportive environment that values innovation, professional growth, and collaborative working. You’ll contribute to a service that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our patients and community.

As an ACP, you will:

  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to assess, diagnose, and manage patients
  • Bring advanced clinical expertise to support safe, timely decision‑making
  • Lead and influence change within a progressive multidisciplinary team
  • Support education, development, and mentorship across the service
  • Make a meaningful difference to the patients you see every day

Whether you’re an experienced ACP or stepping into advanced practice for the first time, this is an exciting opportunity to grow, lead, and help shape the future of our service.

If you’re passionate about delivering excellent urgent care and eager to join a team that will challenge, support, and inspire you — we want to hear from you.

Apply now and take the next step in your advanced practice journey.

*Please note, this role is for trained ACPs ONLY.

The role will support a core team of ACPs across all units in order to provide a model of seven day service cover, ultimately linking the trainees into a core clinical lead support resource. The GM will be responsible for ensuring that the direction of the service continues.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership, including direct clinical care, and advice on complex issues in the UTCs
  • Establish a cohesive team approach for the ACP workforce development
  • Support the UTC service leads and managers with audit, innovation, and performance management
  • Lead on training needs discussions, based on audit findings, supervision outputs and individual staff knowledge gaps
  • Assist in feedback for staff appraisals.
  • Apply advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making to the provision of clinical care to adults and children, presenting with undifferentiated diagnosis both minor injuries and illness within a UTC setting.
  • Exercise a high degree of autonomy through the application of advanced clinical skills in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of adults and children.
  • Lead and monitor improvements to quality of care through clinical audit, evidence-based practice, clinical supervision, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.

It is an exciting time to join primary care and community services as the national Ageing Well programme gathers pace.

DCHS is working closely with the Primary Care Networks to transform the care of housebound and vulnerable people across Derbyshire through our Team-Up approach.

We’re seeking ACPs with a special interest in the management of the typical conditions seen within a UTC, to provide day‑to‑day clinical leadership support to the teams.

To provide leadership support for the clinicians already working in the service, to advance the care of the presenting patients (in line with our 4 pillars approach).

We’re looking for ACPs with a proven track record of working at this level in an urgent care environment and who can support Service Leads and Unit managers in safe care delivery.
