Appointment Setter

Commercial Appointment Setter (B2B Sales)

NCM Auctions | The Surplus Strategy People™ Finningley, Doncaster | Full-time | On-site Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 depending on experience

Good on the phone? Know how to turn a conversation into an opportunity?

We’re looking for Commercial Appointment Setters who can speak confidently to business decision makers, uncover opportunities and book qualified appointments for our commercial team.

You’ll need curiosity, persistence and the confidence to pick up the phone. You’ll also need to listen carefully, ask useful questions and give people a clear reason to meet us.

Who we are

NCM Auctions helps businesses turn commercial surplus into value.

When companies close sites, relocate, refurbish, upgrade equipment or have assets they no longer need, we help them find a new home through auction and other routes to market.

That could mean specialist machinery, catering equipment, vehicles, gym equipment or the contents of an entire factory, hotel or warehouse.

Our clients operate across a huge range of sectors. Your job is to help us start the right conversations with them.

The role

You’ll work with leads, prospect lists and existing contacts to identify businesses that could benefit from NCM’s services.

Some contacts will already know us. Others will be hearing from us for the first time. You’ll be comfortable starting conversations, following up consistently and keeping opportunities moving.

The aim is to book appointments with the right people, where there is a genuine commercial reason to talk.

You’ll give our commercial team the information they need to make those meetings worthwhile.

What you’ll be doing

  • Making outbound calls to prospective clients and following up enquiries and existing leads.

  • Reaching business owners, directors and other relevant decision makers.

  • Explaining clearly how NCM helps businesses manage and sell surplus assets.

  • Asking questions to understand potential requirements, including the assets involved, location, timing and decision making process.

  • Handling initial objections confidently and professionally.

  • Booking qualified calls, meetings and site visits for the commercial team.

  • Confirming appointments and following up to help ensure they take place.

  • Providing clear handover notes so the person attending understands the opportunity and what has been discussed.

  • Keeping CRM accurate, with conversations, outcomes and next steps recorded.

  • Building a follow-up pipeline, including contacts whose requirements may be further down the line.

  • Researching businesses and identifying useful contacts and reasons to approach them.

  • Working towards agreed activity and appointment targets, reporting results and flagging blockers early.

Who we’re looking for

You enjoy speaking to people and can hold a purposeful business conversation.

You’re comfortable making the first call, asking for the right person and following up when someone hasn’t responded.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in appointment setting, telesales, telemarketing, sales development or another role involving regular outbound calls.

  • Communicates clearly and confidently with business decision makers.

  • Can build rapport while keeping a conversation focused.

  • Listens for opportunities and asks sensible follow-up questions.

  • Handles rejection professionally and stays consistent.

  • Is organised enough to manage callbacks, appointments and follow-up activity.

  • Takes ownership of targets and responds well to feedback and coaching.

  • Is comfortable using a CRM and understands why accurate records matter.

B2B sales experience would be particularly useful. Experience in recruitment, commercial property, business services or other telephone-based commercial roles could also transfer well.

Previous auction experience isn’t essential. An interest in how businesses work, a strong telephone manner and the ability to learn are far more important.

Why join NCM?

We’re an ambitious, founder-led business with plans to grow significantly over the next few years.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team where your contribution is visible and you can see the opportunities you help create progress through the business.

You’ll speak to people across different industries, learn about an unusual commercial sector and have the chance to develop as the company grows.

You’ll be based at our Finningley office, working alongside the wider team. And yes — we have a gym at the office too.

How to apply

Please apply with your CV and a short note explaining your relevant experience and why this role interests you.

If you’ve worked towards call, appointment or sales targets before, tell us what you achieved and how you approached it.

We’d love to hear how you turn an initial conversation into a worthwhile appointment
