Job Description: Are you an experienced Benefits Assessor with a strong understanding of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction? Our client is seeking a dedicated Assessment Officer to join their Revenues & Benefits team on a fully remote basis. Responsibilities: Process applications for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Discretionary Housing Payments, Discretionary Council Tax Reduction, and Local Welfare Assistance efficiently and accurately. Resolve customer enquiries via telephone, written correspondence, and online channels. Provide welfare assistance advice and signpost customers to relevant support services. Ensure customer Council Tax accounts are accurate and resolve any discrepancies affecting financial awards. Identify and manage overpayments, ensuring appropriate recovery actions are taken or recommending write-offs where applicable. Essential Requirements: GCSE English and Maths (A – C) or equivalent. Experience in assessing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims. Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation. Experience in using Capita Academy and/or NEC Northgate Revenues & Benefits systems. Strong numerical skills with the ability to carry out financial calculations. Customer-focused with experience in resolving queries effectively. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, ensuring high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
