About the role.

This is a pivotal specialist role at the forefront of ecommerce growth. As Category Manager - Retail Ecommerce, you will shape and execute winning category strategies across key retail ecommerce channels, driving performance through insight-led plans that unlock sustainable growth.

You will lead the development and delivery of category plans for Tier 1 retailers and pureplay customers, while enabling broader teams to succeed across Tier 2 and Tier 3 accounts through activation playbooks, training, and hands-on support. You will also help future-proof the business by accelerating growth across emerging channels such as Quick Commerce and Aggregators, while driving thought leadership in ecommerce technology, AI, innovation, and retail media.

This is a highly visible role for a commercially minded category professional who thrives on turning insight into action and delivering measurable business results in fast-evolving digital retail environments.

What you'll be doing.

  • Develop and deliver insight-led ecommerce category strategies that drive growth with priority retail customers.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Category teams to influence Joint Business Plans and support commercial objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with customer, category, and digital teams, acting as a trusted ecommerce category expert.
  • Lead test-and-learn initiatives across digital media platforms to improve shopper understanding and media effectiveness.
  • Design and implement activation toolkits, training programmes, and best practice guidance for Tier 2 and Tier 3 customers.
  • Create processes, tools, and reporting frameworks that enable teams to execute and optimise ecommerce plans effectively.
  • Develop and execute category strategies for pureplay and online-first retail customers.
  • Use ecommerce analytics and shopper insights to deliver recommendations on assortment, execution, and media investment.
  • Identify and unlock growth opportunities across Quick Commerce and Aggregator channels.
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert on ecommerce innovation, AI, retail technology, and retail media developments.
What you'll need to be successful.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Category Management, Ecommerce, Digital Trading, or Data Analytics within FMCG, CPG, or retail environments.
  • Proven experience delivering category growth across both traditional retail and ecommerce channels.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience using data and insight platforms such as Kantar, dunnhumby, Circana (IRI/Nielsen), and ecommerce data sources.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with experience partnering across Sales, Marketing, Category, and Customer teams.
  • Experience working directly with retail partners and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Commercial curiosity and an interest in emerging ecommerce technologies, AI applications, and retail media.
