CEO

Prospectus is delighted to be supporting a respected national health charity to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer.

For over a decade, the organisation has provided vital support to individuals and families affected by a complex and life-changing health condition, while working alongside clinicians, researchers, policymakers, industry partners and supporters to drive awareness, understanding and progress.

Having established a strong reputation within its field, the charity is now entering an important new phase of development. It is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive with the leadership presence, strategic judgement and organisational capability to guide the organisation through its next phase of growth, influence and impact.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organisation, ensuring the successful delivery of its mission while maintaining a strong focus on long-term sustainability. Leading a dedicated and highly committed team, you will oversee organisational performance, financial management, governance, fundraising growth, stakeholder engagement and service development.

As the organisation's principal ambassador, you will build and maintain influential relationships across a diverse stakeholder landscape, including beneficiaries, funders, healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, industry partners and sector leaders. You will be comfortable representing the organisation at a national level, bringing credibility, influence and confidence to external engagement.

This is not a stepping-stone CEO role. We are seeking an experienced leader who has operated at a national level within a charity, health, membership, research, patient advocacy or similarly complex organisation. You will bring a track record of leading organisational growth, navigating complexity, driving change and balancing competing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on mission and impact.

The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with strong operational leadership. They will be an inclusive and visible leader, capable of inspiring teams and stakeholders while also making difficult decisions, managing risk effectively and ensuring accountability across the organisation.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Significant executive or senior leadership experience within a nationally operating organisation.
  • A proven track record of leading organisational growth, transformation or strategic change.
  • Experience of working closely with Boards or Trustees and accountability for governance, compliance and organisational performance.
  • Strong financial leadership experience, including budget management, risk oversight and organisational sustainability.
  • A successful track record of supporting income growth, fundraising strategy and partnership development.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility across complex and diverse audiences.
  • Experience leading, developing and holding high-performing teams accountable for delivery.
  • The judgement, resilience and executive presence required to make difficult decisions and lead confidently through periods of change.
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for individuals and families affected by serious health conditions.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly respected national charity at a pivotal moment in its development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build on strong foundations and help shape the organisation's future direction, influence and impact for years to come.

This role is home-based with regular UK travel and occasional evening, weekend and limited international travel.
