Childrens Home - Deputy

About Us

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join our team at Beincare.

This is a great opportunity for an existing Deputy Manager looking for a new challenge, or an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker who feels ready to take the next step in their career.

We are a small and growing organisation and our young people are at the centre of everything we do. We want our homes to feel like homes, not workplaces, and we are looking for someone who shares our values and genuinely wants to make a difference to the lives of the children and young people we care for.

You will work closely with the Registered Manager and support them with the day-to-day running of the home, while also being very much part of the staff team.

What will the role involve?

As Deputy Manager, you will:

  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Lead and support the staff team, including providing supervision and guidance.
  • Lead from the front and be a positive role model for the team.
  • Build positive relationships with the children and young people living in the home.
  • Help to make sure the home is safe, welcoming, homely and somewhere our young people feel comfortable.
  • Support care planning, placement plans and risk assessments.
  • Have high aspirations for our young people and support them to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Make sure safeguarding remains at the centre of practice within the home.
  • Support the Manager in ensuring the home meets Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
  • Support Regulation 44 visits and Ofsted inspections.
  • Work alongside social workers, families and other professionals involved with our young people.

We are looking for someone who is approachable, confident and able to build good relationships with both staff and young people. You will need to be able to make decisions, remain calm when things don't go to plan and support your team when they need you.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience working within residential childcare.
  • Experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, Deputy Manager or similar.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience of supervising and supporting staff.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of risk management within residential childcare.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone with the right values and attitude. Someone who cares about the young people they support, works well as part of a team and isn't afraid to get involved in the day-to-day running of the home.

What we offer

  • Salary of up to £60,000.00 per year
  • Company pension
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Opportunities to progress as the company grows
