As the nation’s leading pub, cider and beer company and the name behind a host of brilliant brands, we’re looking for equally brilliant people to help us on our journey to building a better future.
Did you know that HEINEKEN own over 2,400 pubs in the UK? We work closely with fantastic operators to run some of the best loved pubs across the country. Our Pub Company is called Star Pubs and we believe that a well-invested pub estate, run by innovative and experienced operators, keeps our pubs at the heart of their local community, where they bring people together from all walks of life.
There’s so much more to HEINEKEN than meets the eye and right now, we’re looking for a Compliance Coordinator to join our Star Pubs team!
Compliance is at the heart of what we do, but this role is about more than following processes. I’m looking for someone who will take ownership, build strong relationships and be confident in getting out there, understanding how things work and looking for ways we can do them better. Sound interesting? I’d love to hear from you. Melissa, Compliance Team Manager
About the role
The Pubs Code is Star’s licence to operate; it underpins all that we do. Compliance is an essential part of Stars culture, and this role is pivotal to establishing, implementing, and overseeing the high standards we set.
This is a key opportunity to join the Star Pubs Compliance team, reporting to the Compliance Team Manager. You’ll play an important role in supporting compliance with the relevant Pubs Code requirements across our regions, with responsibility for issuing and tracking Pub Packs, Guest Beer Agreements and managing MRO requests. This includes providing information to tenants and prospective tenants, under both England & Wales regulation and the Scottish Pubs Code.
You’ll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including our field-based, Real Estate, Pub Operations and Licensee Attraction colleagues, proactively managing internal and external SLAs, monitoring progress and identifying opportunities to improve our processes and ways of working.
Who we’re looking forTo be successful in this role, you’ll need to:

  • Ideally have a good understanding of the Pubs Code and/or regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate experience of working within compliance processes and maintaining end-to-end adherence to requirements.
  • Be confident using systems including Appian, Business Central, Outlook and Excel.
  • Be able to organise and interpret complex information and produce clear, actionable reporting and insight.
  • Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, balancing high-volume activity with time-critical regulatory deadlines.
  • Take ownership of deadlines, managing multiple MRO deadlines, proactively planning your workload and escalating any potential risks or conflicts at an early stage.
  • Communicate effectively with the wider Compliance Team to ensure workload is understood, priorities are managed and appropriate cover is maintained.
  • Build effective stakeholder relationships and have the confidence to challenge or escalate where required.
  • Demonstrate a diligent and thorough approach to tracking, record keeping and audit requirements.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes and ways of working, and contribute positively to implementing change.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable getting into the detail, takes ownership of their workload and can balance accuracy with pace. You’ll need to be able to manage competing priorities, keep on top of important regulatory deadlines and communicate effectively with the wider Compliance Team to ensure workload is appropriately prioritised and covered. Strong stakeholder communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to challenge or escalate where needed.
We embrace learning and development, with plenty of scope to build your knowledge and experience in this role. You may also bring skills and experience that aren’t listed above. What’s important is that you have a willingness to learn, the ability to build effective working relationships and the drive to make an impact.
Our ways of workingAs this role is office/site based, please note we currently operate a hybrid working framework which allows us to capture the benefits of both working in the office and at home. For full time roles, we work a minimum of 3 days in the office - Tuesday and Thursday are for all, with the third day being defined by the colleague.
Our Benefits
As part of the team, along with your salary, you’ll also receive;

  • Exciting and unique opportunities to help you develop and untap your full potential – we’re passionate about supporting your ambition and growth in the property team!
  • Annual bonus
  • Company-funded private medical healthcare
  • Double-matched pension contributions (up to 10%)
  • 35 days’ holiday (with the opportunity to buy and sell)
  • A quarterly allowance towards purchasing our delicious ciders and beers! (including No & Low Alcohol brands)

You’ll also get the opportunity to get involved with one of our colleague networks where groups of colleagues from all over the business work together to ensure we’re always working towards being a diverse and inclusive company.
