Deliver counselling and other evidence based therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families in an early intervention emotional wellbeing charity. We are particularly interested in therapists with a professional background in working with families, youth work, nursing, or social work. This list is not exclusive and applicants with other relevant therapeutic or counselling experience are also welcome to apply. As a therapist you will hold a weekly caseload, undertake mental health assessments, offer group and individual sessions and work creatively to achieve client goals.

You will work as part of a dynamic and friendly staff team, and work in partnership with the child’s network. You will be able to demonstrate good safeguarding practice. The post-holder will carry an agreed caseload and work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all. Bromley Y offers blended work, with the offer of online sessions, with opportunities to meet with children and young people and their families at community settings. The post holder must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements to ensure that all children and young people can access support at a time which suits their needs. This role may be suited to professionals seeking to work in the charity sector, with its dynamic, creative and caring environment.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Delivery of evidence based interventions
  • Conduct assessments, formulations
  • Undertake time‑limited interventions and support families over a long period of time
  • Build positive relationships with children, young people and their families
  • Work with agencies to develop a coordinated response to children and young people’s mental health needs
  • Identify, monitor and manage risk to self or others in every contact with a client
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of appointments offered each week as agreed with the Team Leader
  • Keep up to date and clear records of all interventions in line with service policies and procedures
  • Use outcome measures to record and track progress, complete all data entry as required within the service
  • Offer consultation, support and advice to other professionals on aspects of mental health and wellbeing of children and their families within one\'s competence
  • Adhere to Bromley Y code of conduct at all times

PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and deliver individual and group interventions
  • Manage risk effectively and maintain patient safety using risk management tools
  • Work with young people from diverse backgrounds and a range of needs
  • Exercise professional judgement in relation to complex casework
  • Maintain own professional skills, registration and standards through continuing professional development
  • Work with professionals involved to support best outcomes for the child
  • Carry out joint and/or individual assessments of children and families, if required
  • Attend team and staff meetings, training, clinical discussion, and other opportunities to share and enhance team practice
  • Manage own workload through both practice and managerial supervision
  • Contribute to the evaluation of all areas of service delivery, client and professional satisfaction and the impact of interventions
