Digital Apprenticeship Assessor

Job Description:

  • Assess apprentices against the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours for Data Technician Level 3, Data Analyst Level 4, Digital Support Technician Level 3, and Machine Learning Level 6 standards
  • Conduct assessments including projects, professional discussions, mock professional discussions, and observations
  • Make accurate and timely assessment decisions
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to apprentices
  • Collaborate with Learner Support Coaching to determine learner readiness for formal assessment
  • Liaise with the IQA team on sampling and validation of assessment decisions
  • Maintain accurate assessment records according to IQA guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with Assessment Organisation, DfE, IQA, safeguarding, Prevent duty, data protection, and organisational requirements
  • Apply equality, diversity, and inclusion principles throughout assessment
  • Ensure learner inclusion during assessments
  • Maintain current occupational knowledge of data and AI roles and tools
  • Maintain CPD in data and assessment practice
  • Communicate with apprentices and colleagues
  • Participate in standardisation activities
  • Plan working days around outcomes, projects, and business needs
  • Adjust working hours occasionally to support clients in different time zones
  • Report to the Quality & Curriculum Assurance Manager

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience assessing data or digital apprenticeship standards
  • Strong knowledge of data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Experience using AI tools
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, CAVA or equivalent)
  • Data-driven and proactive, using insights to inform strategy, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement
  • IQA qualification desirable
  • Data or analytics-related degree or professional qualification desirable
  • EPA assessment experience desirable
  • Advanced Excel
  • SQL
  • BI tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau
  • Python
  • Competence using AI tools and AI automation
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data governance
  • Understanding of Level 3, Level 4 and Level 6 apprenticeship standards
  • Current occupational knowledge of data and AI roles and tools
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Ability to communicate effectively with apprentices and colleagues
  • Compliance with safeguarding, Prevent duty, and data protection requirements
  • Successful candidates must undergo a DBS check; an Enhanced DBS check including a barred list check is required where the role meets regulated-activity criteria
  • Two professional references from an HR department, current or previous manager, or someone senior in the business
  • Availability for working hours of 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday UK time, with occasional flexibility for other time zones
