About AWIP

The Animal Welfare Investigations Project (AWIP) is an animal protection organisation dedicated to investigating cruelty, rescuing animals, and securing justice for animals.

Through our investigations, campaigns and fundraising activities, we inspire people to take action against animal cruelty and help fund the work needed to protect animals.

We're looking for a creative, ambitious and results-driven Digital Fundraising Manager to help grow our digital fundraising programme.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of AWIP's digital fundraising campaigns, email marketing and online supporter acquisition.

You'll develop compelling fundraising appeals, create petitions and supporter actions, manage email campaigns and grow our audience through paid social media.

Our approach is different. We don't simply ask people to donate. We motivate audiences to take action on issues they care about, building relationships that turn supporters into donors.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in growth marketing, direct response marketing, ecommerce, lead generation or digital fundraising.

You'll need to be creative, comfortable working with data and confident taking ownership of campaigns from initial concept through to delivery and optimisation.

You'll inherit an established digital fundraising programme, with the opportunity to improve existing campaigns, experiment with new acquisition strategies and directly influence the growth of AWIP's fundraising income.

Most importantly, you'll need to care passionately about animal protection and be comfortable taking a public stance against cruelty.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Fundraising & Campaigns

  • Plan, create and deliver digital fundraising appeals, petitions and supporter actions.
  • Write compelling campaign copy that motivates audiences to take action and donate.
  • Develop and optimise donation pages, landing pages and supporter journeys.
  • Manage the digital fundraising calendar and coordinate campaigns with our PR & Communications Officer.
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of digital fundraising activities, working towards agreed income and acquisition targets.
  • Identify opportunities to increase fundraising income and improve supporter conversion.

Email Marketing

  • Take ownership of AWIP's email fundraising programme, including writing, building, scheduling and optimising campaigns.
  • Develop automated email journeys, audience segmentation and personalised communications.
  • Test subject lines, messaging and calls to action to improve performance.
  • Monitor email deliverability, engagement and fundraising results.
  • Identify opportunities to convert subscribers into donors and encourage repeat giving.

Paid Social Media & Acquisition

  • Develop, manage and optimise paid social media campaigns, particularly through Meta.
  • Create lead generation campaigns using petitions, lead magnets and landing pages.
  • Test advertising creative, audiences and conversion funnels.
  • Monitor acquisition costs, conversion rates and campaign performance.
  • Develop strategies to convert acquired leads into engaged supporters and donors.

Technology & Performance

  • Use Animal Majority, AWIP's internally developed AI-first CRM and campaigning platform, to create and manage petitions, fundraising pages and supporter journeys.
  • Help identify and implement improvements to Animal Majority where possible.
  • Use analytics, testing and automation to improve fundraising performance.
  • Liaise with external data suppliers and relevant technology providers.
  • Report on fundraising income, acquisition costs and other key performance indicators.

About You

We're looking for someone who understands how to engage audiences, generate leads and convert supporters into donors.

You don't necessarily need previous charity experience. We're equally interested in candidates from ecommerce, performance marketing and direct response businesses.

You'll be someone who enjoys testing ideas, improving results and taking responsibility for your work.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in email marketing, including campaign management, segmentation and optimisation.
  • Practical experience developing, managing or optimising paid social media lead generation campaigns, particularly through Meta.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, with the ability to produce persuasive, action-oriented content.
  • Strong understanding of lead generation, landing pages and conversion funnels.
  • Confidence using marketing data to improve campaign performance.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple campaigns independently.
  • A proactive, creative and results-driven approach.
  • Genuine passion for animal welfare and willingness to advocate publicly for AWIP's mission.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in direct response fundraising, ecommerce, growth marketing, or performance marketing.
  • Experience with SMS marketing.
  • Experience using no-code or low-code development tools, automation platforms or basic HTML.
  • Experience with CRM systems and marketing automation.
  • Experience delivering campaigns across international markets.
  • Experience working with external data suppliers.

Why Join AWIP?

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of an established digital fundraising programme and help shape how AWIP engages supporters and raises funds.

We value creativity, experimentation and people who aren't afraid to challenge conventional approaches.

You'll work with our own technology, develop innovative campaigns and see the direct impact of your work on our efforts to protect animals from cruelty.

This is a role for someone who wants to do more than manage marketing campaigns. It's an opportunity to use your skills to make a meaningful difference.
