Duty Manager

Are you an experienced retail supervisor with a passion for customer service, operational excellence and leading high-performing teams?

We are looking for a proactive and customer focused Duty Manager to support the day-to-day running of our busy retail store. Working closely with the Store Manager and Deputy Store Manager, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer experiences, maintaining outstanding store standards and supporting colleagues to perform at their best.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you will help oversee the daily operation of the store, ensuring excellent standards across customer service, merchandising, compliance, health & safety and team performance.

You will lead colleagues on the shop floor, provide coaching and support, and ensure all operational procedures are delivered consistently and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Deliver a friendly, helpful and efficient customer experience at all times
  • Lead by example in providing excellent customer service
  • Support effective queue management and customer flow during busy periods
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints professionally
  • Promote a positive and engaging in-store experience
  • Support, motivate and guide store colleagues
  • Assist with colleague training, induction and development
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback
  • Help maintain a positive, productive and collaborative working environment
  • Ensure company policies and standards are consistently followed

Store Standards & Operations

  • Ensure the store is clean, organised and ready for trade each day
  • Maintain high merchandising and presentation standards
  • Support promotional activity and stock availability
  • Monitor deliveries, stock movement and warehouse organisation
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures

Compliance, Security & Health & Safety

  • Support store security procedures including cash and stock control
  • Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Assist with accident logs, safety records and risk assessments
  • Monitor EPOS and pricing compliance
  • Ensure operational procedures are delivered accurately and consistently

  • Previous retail supervisory, team leader or management experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and problem-solving ability
  • The ability to motivate and support colleagues
  • A hands-on and flexible approach
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced retail environment
