We are a JAG Accredited Unit and looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible healthcare assistant to join our team working part-time 18.5 hours per week.

This role as a care support worker requires the person to have the care certificate and have experience with delivering personal care and be willing to learn new skills to support endoscopy procedures, care of patients in recovery and support the processing and distribution of endoscopes.

As a healthcare assistant within our Endoscopy Team you will be responsible for a range of tasks including preparing procedure rooms, setting up equipment before and after endoscopy procedures.

You will provide support and assistance to our patients and contribute to the smooth running of the Endoscopy unit.

Previous experience in a hospital environment is desirable and you will be supported to progress to Band 3 after achieving a set of competences.

The Endoscopy Unit is open Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 18:00 and closed on Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

A support role within the department which will require personal care to patients, working in procedure rooms supporting the team, helping with stock control, supporting distribution of endoscopes within the department and also for dispatch.

Working as part of our Endoscopy team, you will be working closely with the Registered Nurse providing a caring support service to our patients. This will include assisting the Nurses during endoscopic procedures, ensuring the correct equipment are in place prior to procedure, ordering consumables and ensuring the procedure rooms and equipment are clean post procedure.

Maintain stock levels on the unit and escalate any faults and issues.

Assist in the movement of patients, equipment and deliveries on the unit.

Prepare endoscopes ready for use in the endoscopy procedure rooms and clearing up after lists, putting away endoscopes and equipment at the end of the day.

Responsible for the cleanliness of the unit and keeping it tidy at all times.
