Our examining teams embed the above core values in the areas for which they are responsible, including the process of developing and reviewing syllabus materials, the creation, production and review of relevant exams for the ACCA Qualification and ensuring our marking process remains fair and robust. The exam author role is an important part of the examining team.
Main responsibilities
- Contribute to the continual development of the syllabus and assessment design
- Contribute to the prescription process for the exam, working to ensure that:
Syllabus coverage is appropriate and in line with the syllabus of the exam year being prescribed.
Exams are balanced and fair and reflect external guidance on how the exam is structured.
- Write allocated exam questions for specific sections of the exam ensuring that exam content:
Accords with and adequately covers the syllabus prescribed by ACCA and is set at the appropriate educational level
Adequately tests a candidate’s knowledge of data science as defined within the syllabus.
Is easily understood and appropriate for our global candidate population, and the exam material is accessible and understandable for all candidates, wherever in the world they may be.
- Participate in the technical review and quality assurance process for the examination.
- Participate in the marking process for the examination
- Maintain, always, the security of all exam material and the integrity of Qualification exam materials.
Applicants for the role must have:
- Awareness of the global and diverse nature of ACCA candidates.
- A relevant professional or accounting qualification
- Excellent technical skills in the required field of expertise for the exam.
- Experience of creating exam content in a higher education environment or within an awarding body.
- A keen interest in accountancy education and data science.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues related to exams
- The proven ability to deal effectively with large volumes of work, to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.
