Position Summary

  • Assisting team of skilled labourer arborist in tree maintenance/tree care with tree pruning, minor tree removals, tree stumping, traffic control and job site cleanliness
  • Assist forestry technical team in tree stake removals, re-establishing mulch beds on newly planted trees and minor field tree data collection
  • Assist in the planning of new tree planting programs and resident communications
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Shift hours of operation are between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, (Monday to Friday)
  • Must be available to start full-time work as of May 4, 2026, varied shifts including evenings and weekends

Qualifications, Competencies

  • MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2026 – Verification will be required
  • Preference will be given to those enrolled in arboriculture, forestry, urban forestry or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in tree pruning and removal standards and proper techniques
  • Knowledge and experience using forestry maintenance equipment: chippers and stumpers
  • Knowledge and experience in general Arboriculture principles and practices
  • Knowledge of tree species, diseases and insect control
  • Must have a valid Class ‘G’ driver’s licence
  • Must demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Proof of immunity to Tetanus and Hepatitis B may be required prior to start date
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to follow instructions and complete daily work assignments
  • Must provide and wear CSA approved protective footwear
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check at candidate’s own expense
