The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Amazon book marketing specialist to drive paid growth for a premium nonfiction title covering economics, global markets and investment. The book is already building meaningful organic momentum. The next priority is to create sustained, commercially responsible visibility across the Amazon ecosystem, with additional bursts of activity aligned to podcast appearances, email campaigns and other promotional moments.
This is not a generic bestseller campaign. We need someone who understands the economics of marketing premium nonfiction, can distinguish profitable visibility from vanity rankings and can explain the numbers clearly.
What you will do
- Audit the existing Amazon advertising account, listing, categories, keywords and conversion journey.
- Develop the campaign architecture, including keyword, category and comparable-author targeting.
- Personally build, run and optimise Amazon Sponsored Products campaigns, including automatic harvesting, manual keyword targeting and ASIN targeting.
- Manage Sponsored Display and retargeting where commercially appropriate.
- Maintain negative-keyword discipline and actively control wasted spend.
- Manage bids and budgets against agreed profitability parameters.
- Run BookBub advertising for the ebook edition.
- Advise on category placement, metadata, keywords and promotional timing.
- Recommend improvements to listing conversion, including A+ content and product-page presentation.
- Coordinate advertising bursts with the client's podcast, email and wider marketing calendar.
- Provide weekly reporting covering spend, advertising cost of sales, attributed units, organic rank movement, keyword performance and clear next actions.
What we need
You must have direct, hands-on experience running Amazon Ads for nonfiction books. Experience across economics, investing, finance, business, geopolitics, current affairs or other premium professional publishing would be particularly relevant. We need someone who can demonstrate that they have made a nonfiction hardcover priced at $25 or more profitably visible through Amazon advertising. You should be able to share meaningful numbers, including the approximate cost per attributed sale, advertising cost of sales or equivalent profitability measure, and how performance changed over time.
You must personally operate the advertising console. This work cannot be delegated to a junior buyer or offshore delivery team.
Experience using Publisher Rocket, K-lytics or comparable category and keyword tools would be useful.
Working structure The initial engagement is expected to be a 90-day pilot, beginning with a paid audit and campaign architecture phase. The proposed cadence includes a weekly written report, a weekly 30-minute call, fortnightly optimisation recommendations and a monthly test log and forward plan.
All advertising accounts, billing, campaign data and audiences will remain owned by the client. Access will be provided through user-level permissions only.
The work will operate under strict brand and compliance guardrails. There will be no incentivised reviews, ranking manipulation, purchased bestseller campaigns, misleading claims or unapproved use of the client's name. An NDA and work-for-hire agreement will be required.
