About The Role
The Global Senior Category Manager, Digital, Data & eCommerce plays a pivotal role at the intersection of marketing, technology, data and commercial decision-making. The role exists to help Diageo unlock growth, effectiveness and margin through smarter digital and commerce investment; shaping
how
the business plans, partners and spends, not just
what
it buys.

Operating as a strategic thought partner to Consumer Digital Transformation, Marketing and Commercial leaders,
this role combines hands-on category leadership with strong commercial judgement and systems thinking
. It leads the development and execution of category and sourcing strategies that balance effectiveness and efficiency. The role requires comfort
working deep in the detail when required
, and can translate complex digital and commerce capabilities into clear commercial choices that deliver measurable outcomes.

This is a leadership role in a fast-evolving, ambiguous space where
technical fluency, applied problem-solving and execution discipline matter
. Success depends on the ability to work across boundaries, frame decisions with clarity, challenge constructively, and connect external market insight with internal priorities. Procurement provides the platform for enterprise-wide impact in: shaping agendas, guiding investment choices, and accelerating Diageo\'s digital, data and eCommerce transformation with integrity, rigour and pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transformation partner: Play a key role in shaping and accelerating Diageo\'s digital, data and eCommerce transformation. Articulate the journey and vision to align collaborators, connect across the business through the unique external and cross-enterprise view Procurement brings, and use insight and data to unlock new sources of value.
  • Category leadership & sourcing strategy: Lead category and sourcing strategies that improve value and ROI. Ensure outcomes-based implementation of commercial elements of spend with suppliers and agencies, promoting the highest standards of ethics and compliance. Deliver benefits through strong demand management, relationship management and contract execution.
  • Business partnering: Act as a trusted partner to global marketing and digital teams, supporting the evolution of Diageo\'s digital practices. Bring understanding of marketing science, analytics, eCommerce and ad-tech to inform decisions and enable effective collaboration.
  • Ecosystem & market intelligence: Build and maintain a strong understanding of the agency and partner ecosystem, supply chains, innovation and emerging technologies. Provide external benchmarks and market insight to inform strategy and drive value.
  • Value delivery & stakeholder management: Create and lead programmes that deliver productivity and performance targets. Run joint objectives and KPI-based reviews with agencies and suppliers, agree development plans to lift performance, and manage senior stakeholder engagement.

Skills, Experience & Capabilities Required
Comfort operating between strategy and hands-on execution in digital, data or commerce contexts, with the judgement to know when depth matters.

  • Extensive experience in eCommerce / digital, with a strong understanding of how commercial structures enable growth and value creation OR extensive experience in marketing procurement with eCommerce / digital expertise.
  • Proven rigour across digital and marketing services, including strategy development, sourcing, contracting and supplier performance.
  • Strong digital and eCommerce fluency with a clear ROI and effectiveness lens, and the ability to translate technical capability into sound commercial and contractual choices.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally, influence senior stakeholders, and operate effectively in transformation contexts characterized by ambiguity and pace.
