Health and Safety – Facilities Manager
Job Description:
- Drive a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement across hubs, depots, delivery operations and offices
- Use data, audits and stakeholder collaboration to identify risks, implement solutions and ensure best-in-class HSEFQ performance
- Take ownership of HSE & Facilities performance across the Southwest patch (Plymouth, Swindon, Southampton, Penebont and Avonmouth)
- Support, advise and promote HSEFQ standards across all operational areas
- Analyse risk data, conduct audits and report compliance trends to stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement programmes at site, regional and national level
- Provide expert guidance on HSE legislation and workplace risk scenarios
- Advise on risk assessments and appropriate control measures
- Lead incident, near-miss and accident investigations with clear corrective actions
- Deliver HSE training and ensure colleague competence and compliance
- Ensure appropriate on-site emergency cover (First Aid, Fire Marshals, etc.)
- Partner with Facilities Management (FM) suppliers to ensure service quality, cost control and performance
- Support FM projects and day-to-day maintenance issue resolution
- Engage with enforcing authorities during site visits
- Promote sustainability, business continuity and environmental best practice
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years in an operational role with HSE responsibilities
- NEBOSH Certificate (preferred or working towards)
- IWFM Level 3+ (preferred or working towards)
- Experience in transport or logistics environments (desirable)
- Experience managing facilities, projects and budgets
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence and implement change across multiple sites
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and the bigger picture
