About the role:

At bp, we believe that better information leads to better decisions. We're looking for an Intelligence Advisor to join our Business Intelligence team, supporting major commercial activities by uncovering insights, identifying risks, and highlighting opportunities that help inform strategic business decisions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a naturally curious and analytical professional who enjoys solving complex problems, conducting in-depth research, and turning information into actionable intelligence.

Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027

What you'll be doing:

  • Conducting research and intelligence gathering from a broad range of open sources.
  • Identifying and assessing commercial, political, regulatory, reputational, ethical, and sanctions-related risks.
  • Supporting intelligence projects by developing tailored collection approaches and working with established intelligence networks.
  • Producing clear, concise, and actionable intelligence reports for business stakeholders.
  • Analysing complex information from multiple sources and presenting findings in an accessible way.
  • Creating visual products such as timelines, link charts, and data summaries to support analysis.
  • Partnering with colleagues to understand business needs and deliver intelligence that supports decision-making.
What we're looking for:
  • Experience conducting research, analysis, and reporting within an intelligence, risk, investigations, compliance, government, consulting, or similar professional environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify meaningful insights from large and varied datasets.
  • Experience using open-source research techniques and publicly available information to investigate complex topics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly to different audiences.
  • An awareness of international affairs, geopolitics, business risk, or regulatory environments.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global team.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have:
  • Intelligence-related certifications or formal training.
  • Experience assessing commercial, reputational, political, regulatory, or ethical risk.
  • International work, study, or travel experience.
  • Foreign language capabilities.
  • Advanced academic qualifications relevant to intelligence, international affairs, political science, security studies, business, or related fields.
