Overview
Join us as a Social Media volunteer – Help give migrants a voice. Join to apply for the Join us as a Social Media volunteer – Help give migrants a voice role at The Prisma - The Multicultural Newspaper.
What difference will you make?
Now more than ever, a media outlet specialised in immigration is essential. Volunteers will help secure the future of The Prisma, a bilingual and independent newspaper, and combat false narratives about immigrants, connecting British society with the immigrant community. Their work will enable archival material recovery, investigative reporting, highlighting injustices, celebrating positive achievements, sharing real stories, and promoting immigrant campaigns and independent journalism. With their support, after 15 years, we will be able to begin recognising the contribution of our volunteers, strengthening a pioneering outlet that champions diversity and the voices of immigrants in the UK.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for dedicated, creative and committed individuals who are passionate about social media, digital campaigning, and supporting independent journalism. Volunteers will play a central role in driving the campaign to secure the future of The Prisma – The Multicultural Newspaper, a pioneering bilingual platform giving voice to immigrant communities in the UK. Ideal volunteers will bring hands-on experience managing social media accounts, crafting posts in English and Spanish, and engaging audiences across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and possibly Bluesky. They will have the confidence to adapt content, add their own creative flair, and help shape how the campaign reaches and inspires a wider audience. We welcome candidates who are fluent in English, and Spanish speakers are particularly encouraged to apply. Above all, we seek individuals with creativity, integrity, commitment, and a genuine desire to make a difference through media that matters.
By joining, volunteers will gain practical experience and professional recognition, and become part of a committed team driving change and safeguarding the voices of immigrants in the UK at a time when reliable, specialised media has never been more vital.
What will you be doing?
This role requires initiative, flexibility, and teamwork. Volunteers will collaborate with the campaign team to design posts, schedule content, monitor engagement, and report on results. Their input will be critical in amplifying the campaign’s message, raising awareness about immigrant issues, combating misinformation, and promoting independent, investigative journalism. Volunteers should be motivated by impact, not just tasks. Their contributions will help highlight real stories, document achievements, denounce injustices, recover archival material, and support campaigns that defend immigrants’ rights and foster understanding between communities. They will be part of a historic effort to ensure that, after 15 years of voluntary service, the work of volunteers begins to be recognised and appreciated in a meaningful way.
