Law Tech & Operations Graduate Programme 2027

If you’re fascinated by tech and its potential to change the world, this programme is for you. At A&O Shearman, we’re leading the way – transforming the services we offer and how we deliver them.

On our Law Tech & Operations Graduate Programme, you’ll work with coders, developers, legal project managers, lawyers and clients to bridge the gap between law and the modern world. The programme offers you the chance to grow the foundation and skills you need to explore an exciting future career in technology.

Over two years, you’ll experience working in different teams including the Legal Tech, Markets Innovation Group, Legal Process Improvement, and Practice Transformation teams. You’ll get the chance to drive tech forwards, test new technologies and explore how to better utilise the data we have.

You’ll also gain experience in different legal practice areas, such as Corporate or Finance. By the end of the programme, you’ll have expertise in both technology and the legal profession.

We’ll provide training, mentoring and practical support to ensure you can grow and develop both professionally and personally. During your time on the programme, you’ll have the chance to share your perspective, support on client pitches, and have an impact on live projects. You’ll learn to be the expert in the room and help us to continually transform and improve.

You’ll earn a salary of £38,000 in the first year of the programme and £43,500 in the second year. After the programme finishes, we’ll also help you to find a permanent role where your talents will work best.

We welcome applicants from all universities with any degree. If you have a background in STEM subjects, design or economics, this could help you in this process-oriented role. No matter which subjects you studied, it is curiosity and the confidence to ask questions that will help you succeed. We expect all applicants to be fully committed to this two-year programme.

Our application process begins with an online application. If your application is successful, the next stage is an Assessment Day, with two one-on-one interviews.

At A&O Shearman, we recruit the best and ask for the best of you. We’ll invest in you to excel in your legal career and you’ll be valued for who you are as much as for what you do. With us, you’ll enjoy challenge, support and opportunities you couldn’t find elsewhere.
