ThepostsarespecificallywithintheNationalTaxLitigationbusinessstream.Thisbusinessstreamworksarangeoflitigationappeals,mainlydefendingappealsonbehalfofthewiderdepartmentmadebytaxpayercustomersintheTaxTribunal.

HOLitigatorswillbeexpectedtodevelopahighlevelofknowledge,skillsandunderstandingandworkaspartofafast-pacedLitigationteambutmayalsobeaskedtosupportcolleaguesinotherpartsofHMRCLegalGroupandthewiderHMRC.

AdvocacyisanimportantpartofbeingalitigatorandsuccessfulcandidateswillbeexpectedtoadvocateintheTribunal.

  • ATaxQualification-musthavecompletedFoundationTaxtrainingorequivalent,oralreadyhavepassedaqualificationinanyHMRCregimee.g.EmployerCompliance,CorporationTax,IncomeTax,VATorCustoms.OrhavesuccessfullycompletedtheQualityAssessmentFramework(QAF)andlearningroutewaytoatleastlevel1orhavesuccessfullycompletedtheSOLSPracticalAssessmentFramework(PAF);OR
  • Litigationexperience-acandidatewithlitigationexperiencewillbeabletodemonstratehavingoperatedinalitigationroleincludingadvocacyand/orthedraftingandsubmissionofkeylitigationdocuments,suchas,Statementofcase,ParticularsofClaim,SkeletonArgument,orsimilaractivities.
