Media, Communications and Campaigns Manager

Are you an experienced media and communications professional with a strong background in journalism and media relations? Are you looking for a role where your work can raise awareness, influence public debate, reduce stigma and make a meaningful difference to people’s lives?

I’m supporting a mental health membership organisation, in their search for their new Media, Communications and Campaigns Manager, who will lead the UK-wide Media, Communications and Campaigns team in developing and delivering a proactive and reactive communications strategy. You will help raise the profile and influence of 23,000 members across the UK and internationally.

Working in a fast-paced news environment, you will lead proactive and reactive media activity, identifying opportunities to influence the conversation and ensuring the College responds authoritatively to breaking news and emerging issues across the UK. From securing national media coverage and supporting high-profile spokespeople to delivering strategic campaigns, you will play a key role in strengthening the College’s reputation and impact.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with varied stakeholders, you will develop compelling communications, build strong relationships with journalists and stakeholders, and ensure the college’s expertise reaches decision-makers, members and the public in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You’ll also directly line manage an established team of three Senior Media and Communications Officers (News, Campaigns and Devolved Nations).

Your experience:

  • Significant experience working as a journalist within national, regional or specialist media
  • Significant experience of working and leading a high-profile press office
  • Established leadership experience, working with and leading teams
  • Understanding and experience of the UK media landscape across Scotland, Wales and NI
  • Experience in health or social care or for a member led organisation

  • Salary £51,670 - £58,122 per annum, plus great employee beneifts
  • Full-time, permanent
  • London - Hybrid working with a minimum of two office working days per week which are currently Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
