Position: Senior Music Transcriber — MIDI & Notation (Generative Music)

Type: Contract Compensation: $55–$110/hour Location: Remote Commitment: Flexible hours Role Responsibilities

  • Transcribe full mixes or provided stems into accurate multi-track MIDI.
  • Capture pitch, onset, duration, velocity, harmony/key, modulations, and polyphony.
  • Follow a consistent MIDI spec including quantization, tempo map, drum mapping, and pitch bends.
  • Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while ensuring transcription accuracy.
  • Collaborate with AI research teams to improve training data quality and downstream performance.
Qualifications Must-Have
  • Professional transcription or notation experience (session work, arranging, engraving, or equivalent).
  • Fluency in a DAW or notation tool (Logic, Cubase, Reaper, Pro Tools, Sibelius, MuseScore, etc.).
  • Ability to transcribe polyphonic, multi-instrument material accurately by ear.
  • Strong music theory knowledge (harmony, voice leading) and rhythmic precision.
