Lead a skilled team, take ownership of the Paint Department.</p><p><br></p><p>Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation to appoint an experienced <strong>Paint Supervisor</strong> to lead their Paint Department.</p><p>This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Industrial Painter, Senior Painter or Paint Supervisor with a background in heavy engineering, fabrication or industrial manufacturing to step into a key leadership position.</p><p><br></p><p>You’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Paint Department, leading a skilled team and ensuring painting and finishing activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and to a high-quality standard.</p><p><br></p><p>The role would suit someone who has strong hands-on experience with industrial paint systems, surface preparation and coating application, and who is now looking to take greater ownership of production, people and quality.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>In Your New Role</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Paint Department</li><li>Organise and prioritise workloads in line with production schedules and customer deadlines</li><li>Allocate work across the team based on skills, experience and workload</li><li>Ensure surface preparation, painting and finishing activities are completed to specification</li><li>Oversee industrial painting processes and ensure the correct application methods and paint systems are used</li><li>Monitor jobs through the department and identify potential delays, quality issues or production risks</li><li>Ensure work is completed correctly first time, minimising defects, rework and downtime</li><li>Carry out in-process quality checks and ensure finished products meet customer specifications</li><li>Investigate paint defects and support corrective actions and continuous improvement</li><li>Work closely with Production and Quality teams to resolve issues and maintain workflow</li><li>Ensure job cards, drawings, weld records and production paperwork are completed accurately</li><li>Monitor paint, consumables and equipment requirements and report shortages or issues</li><li>Supervise, motivate and develop the Paint team</li><li>Support the onboarding and training of new employees</li><li>Promote high standards of housekeeping and environmental control</li><li>Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures, PPE requirements and safe working practices</li><li>Promote hazard and near-miss reporting and support investigations where required</li></ul><p>What You Will Need to Succeed</p><ul><li>5+ years' experience within industrial painting, ideally within heavy engineering, fabrication or manufacturing</li><li>2+ years' experience in a supervisory, team lead or senior painting position</li><li>Strong hands-on knowledge of surface preparation, industrial coatings and paint application</li><li>Experience working with heavy-duty steel, fabricated components, machinery or similar industrial products</li><li>Good understanding of paint quality standards, inspection requirements and finishing specifications</li><li>Experience working to production schedules and customer deadlines</li><li>Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation</li><li>Experience identifying and resolving paint defects, quality issues and rework</li><li>Strong understanding of safe working practices within an industrial painting environment</li><li>Proven ability to lead, organise and motivate a production team</li><li>Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why This Role?</strong></p><p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Industrial Painter or Senior Painter who has developed strong technical expertise and is ready to move into a role with greater responsibility for people, production, quality and performance.</p><p>You'll be joining an established engineering and manufacturing environment, with the opportunity to take ownership of a key production function and play an important role in delivering high-quality finished products.</p><p><br></p><p>For a more detailed brief and a confidential conversation about how Vickerstock can support you with your next career move, get in touch with <strong>Sam Laheen</strong> on the <strong>Engineering Desk</strong> today.</p>
