About us
Magnolia Jewelers is a family-run fine jewelry store and workshop in Manhattan's Chinatown. We design and make custom jewelry, and our stores have to look spotless every day because customers are looking closely at diamonds and gold under bright lights. We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to keep both stores clean and organized.

What you'll do (including but not limited to)

Every day

  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks and floors
  • Clean the staff kitchen: counters, sink, fridge, table, microwave and toaster oven
  • Run, empty and put away the dishwasher
  • Vacuum and mop bathrooms, staff closet, stairs, kitchen and office
  • Clean all glass showcases and glass doors until streak-free
  • Clean the outside windows with a squeegee and bucket
  • Prepare the tea station at the start of the shift (175 Canal)
  • Tidy the cabinets under the showcases (receipts, supplies, diamond viewing box)
  • Rinse, collect and wash cleaning cloths
  • Clean the robot vacuum and its station
  • Refill and look after the office humidifier
  • Help with small kitchen and office tasks

Every week

  • Dust walls and hard-to-reach glass
  • Empty and clean outdoor and indoor trash cans and the paper shredder
  • Restock supplies: cups, toilet paper, napkins, bags, hand soap
  • Mop the basement floors at both stores
  • Throw out expired food from the fridge

Every month

  • Deep-clean set areas of the stores
  • Replace mop heads, cloths and vacuum filters

We'll train you on our cleaning system, including which colored cloth goes where.

What we're looking for

  • Reliable and on time. You arrive by 10:25 AM so the stores are ready for customers when we open at 10:30
  • Careful and detail-oriented. Fingerprints and streaks on glass show up right away
  • Comfortable on your feet, bending, carrying a bucket and using stairs
  • Trustworthy. You'll be working around fine jewelry
  • No language requirement. All languages welcome
  • No prior experience needed. Cleaning or janitorial experience is a plus
