We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing Part-Time Tennis Retail Sales Assistant to join our specialist tennis and racket sports store in Wimbledon.

This is an ideal role for someone who genuinely enjoys tennis, likes working with people, has a natural ability to sell and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.

We are looking for someone who wants to become a trusted, long-term member of the team and who can commit consistently to regular weekly shifts.

Working Hours

The available shifts are:

  • Friday: 10:00am–7:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am–5:00pm
  • Sunday: 10:00am–5:00pm

Applicants must be able to work at least two of these three shifts every week, although availability for all three days is strongly preferred.

This is a permanent, ongoing role, so you must be able to commit to your agreed shifts every week on a long-term basis.

Depending on agreed days, the role will be approximately 14–23 hours per week.

You must be able to travel to the store reliably and punctually for your agreed shifts every week.

Because this is a permanent role with fixed weekly shifts, we are specifically looking for someone for whom travelling to Wimbledon Park Road regularly is practical and sustainable long term.

Start Date

We are looking for someone who can start immediately or within the very near future.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming customers and providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service
  • Helping customers choose the right tennis and racket sports equipment
  • Selling rackets, strings, shoes, clothing, bags, balls, grips, accessories and other products
  • Understanding customers' playing levels, needs and budgets
  • Making appropriate product recommendations
  • Developing strong knowledge of the products and brands we stock
  • Operating the till and processing payments accurately
  • Restocking products
  • Merchandising and keeping displays organised
  • Keeping the shop clean, tidy and professionally presented
  • Receiving and organising deliveries and stock
  • Helping maintain accurate stock levels
  • Answering customer questions in-store and by telephone
  • Taking responsibility for tasks without needing constant supervision
  • Helping maintain the high level of service expected from a specialist tennis retailer
  • Racket stringing where the applicant has the relevant experience

Highly Desirable

We would particularly like to hear from applicants who have one or more of the following:

  • Previous retail experience
  • Previous sales or customer service experience
  • Experience stringing tennis rackets
  • Strong knowledge of tennis rackets, strings, shoes and equipment
  • Knowledge of padel rackets and equipment
  • A tennis, padel, squash, badminton or other racket sports background
  • Experience playing tennis regularly or competitively
  • Tennis coaching experience
  • Experience working in a specialist sports retailer
  • An interest in new tennis equipment, products and racket technology

These are desirable rather than essential.

Someone with the right personality, reliability, work ethic and genuine interest in tennis can be trained.

We want our customers to receive knowledgeable, personal service and expert advice rather than the generic experience they may receive from a large general sports retailer.

The right person will have the opportunity to develop genuine expertise in tennis and racket sports equipment while becoming an important part of the store.
