Job Description:

At Gentoo, maintaining good-quality homes for our customers is at the heart of what we do.


We’re looking for an experienced Plasterer to join our Property Maintenance team to deliver a varied range of plastering and finishing work across our customers’ homes in Sunderland, from boarding and skimming to rendering, tiling, damp-proofing-related work and pebble dashing.


You’ll take pride in delivering a high standard of work, communicate clearly and respectfully, and work closely with colleagues to provide a great service for our customers.


Enjoy a 36-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with an early finish on a Friday, giving you more time for the things that matter. We’re also proud to be Great Place to Work® certified and one of the UK’s Top 50 Best Workplaces™ 2026.


A full UK driving licence is required. A basic DBS check will be arranged and funded by Gentoo.

What you will be doing:

Carry out plastering and finishing works, including boarding, skimming, rendering, tiling, damp-proofing works and pebble dashing.


Complete minor property repairs, including damp and mould treatments, brickwork pointing and basic plumbing.


Work effectively with other trades to complete repairs.


Maintain the materials and van stock needed to complete jobs.


Complete work safely, efficiently and to Gentoo and legal standards, following relevant health and safety requirements.


Keep work areas clean, safe and tidy.


Use handheld IT systems to update jobs and work progress.


Deliver an excellent positive customer experience

What you will need:

A full UK driving licence.


A recognised plastering qualification, such as a craft apprenticeship, City & Guilds Advanced Craft Certificate or NVQ Level 2 in Plastering.


Experience in ceramic tiling.


Knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.


Experience of delivering excellent customer service in a customer-facing environment.


Confidence using handheld devices to manage and update work.


Effective communication and customer care skills.


The ability to work safely at height and in external environments.


A positive approach to learning and developing your skills.
