Job description

The Integrated Delivery Office sits at the heart of Customer Technology, ensuring the Society’s most strategic, complex and multi-million-pound technology programmes are designed and delivered as connected enterprise outcomes.

This is a senior role combining programme delivery, enterprise architecture and transformation expertise. You will provide the strategic and technical insight needed to solve integration challenges that cross systems, platforms, data, processes and organisational boundaries. Your work will ensure architectural decisions are grounded in delivery reality and that programmes collectively contribute to a scalable and sustainable technology landscape.

The role is also central to accelerating artificial intelligence-enabled transformation across the Change Delivery Practice. You will help shape how artificial intelligence, automation, AI agents and effective prompting are embedded into operating models and end-to-end processes, moving teams beyond isolated experimentation towards measurable improvements in how work is designed and delivered.

You will operate with senior leaders across technology, architecture, engineering and programme delivery, influencing decisions on investment, sequencing, integration and transformation. This is an opportunity to shape enterprise-wide outcomes, resolve some of the organisation’s most complex technology challenges and improve how major change is delivered.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

On a typical day, you’ll bring together architects, engineers and programme leaders to work through issues that cannot be resolved within a single team or programme. You’ll get hands-on with complex technical challenges, applying enterprise architecture concepts and structured frameworks to understand root causes, assess options and develop practical solutions. You’ll review how systems, platforms, data and processes connect, identifying where changes to architecture, integration, delivery sequencing or resources are needed. You’ll turn this analysis into clear recommendations that help senior leaders make informed decisions and enable teams to move forward. You’ll also work with teams to redesign processes and introduce artificial intelligence-enabled tools and ways of working that deliver measurable improvements.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading at least one complex technology programme with a total value of more than £10 million, including accountability for delivery plans, financial management, governance, risks and outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in both programme management and enterprise architecture within a large and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience solving complex technical integration challenges involving multiple systems, platforms, data flows, technology teams or business areas.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise and application architecture principles, with the ability to understand technology landscapes, integration patterns, dependencies, and architectural constraints to support integrated delivery planning, governance, and decision-making across complex change portfolios. Able to collaborate effectively with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Engineering Teams, and Platform Owners to ensure programme delivery aligns with target-state architecture, technology strategy, and organisational standards.
  • Proven experience identifying and managing cross-programme dependencies, architectural constraints, critical paths and delivery sequencing across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Exposure to a consulting background where you have practical experience designing or implementing operating model, technology strategy and end-to-end process transformation, with measurable improvements to delivery, efficiency, control or customer outcomes.
  • Practical experience designing and implementing AI-enabled solutions, including AI agents, custom automation applications, and intelligent workflows using technologies such as Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Fabric, Copilot Studio, Power Platform and Microsoft 365 Copilot. Demonstrated ability to build agentic solutions, automate business processes, orchestrate complex workflows, generate insights from organisational data, and improve operational and delivery outcomes. Experience applying effective prompting, AI governance, and low-code/no-code development to deliver measurable business value.
