Background InformationThe Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has been the International Organization for Migration\'s (IOM) main operational tool for tracking and monitoring the movements and evolving needs of displaced populations since 2004. It has been systematically deployed in medium- to large-scale humanitarian response operations in the last five years, including in all Level 3 emergencies. As of December 2024, DTM has been active in 91 countries, monitoring over 57.3 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The AKO unit of the global DTM support team is tasked with direct support to country and regional offices to ensure that the quality of analytic outputs is maintained in line with the global DTM standards, and are fit for purpose based on the audience and information needs at the country level. The AKO unit is also engaged in exploring the analytic potential of DTM data through various thematic workstreams including climate and natural hazard induced mobility, gender and displacement/migration, urban displacement/migration, data science and ethics and the humanitarian, development and peace nexus, among others.

The selected candidate will focus on contributing to the work done by DTM\'s Route Based Research team and will support the production of the Global Overview of Migration Routes, the DTM Global Support team\'s flagship publication in this field. Candidates must have a strong interest in mixed migration research, data, and policy. Demonstrable experience in writing about and conducting mixed migration research is an advantage.
