Teachers are the lifeblood of the success of schools.”- Sir Ken Robinson, 2013</p><p><strong>General </strong></p><ul><li><p>Assist in developing, managing and delivering the school counselling programme in line with the International School Counsellor Association Model </p></li><li><p>Advocate for students’ personal and educational needs and ensure these needs are addressed Provide individual or small group confidential counselling for students </p></li><li><p>Provide support to students facing emergency situations </p></li><li><p>Refer students, staff, and families whose needs cannot be addressed in the school setting to outside specialists, as per the school's recommendation </p></li><li><p>Advocate for external mental health services on behalf of students </p></li><li><p>Collaborate with the boarding house team to provide counselling support as needed </p></li><li><p>Collaborate within the counselling team to deliver the peer support programme </p></li><li><p>Assist divisional principals with identifying and resolving student issues, needs and problems </p></li><li><p>Contribute to student of concern meetings as appropriate </p></li><li><p>Uphold the school’s child safeguarding protocols and procedures.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Skills </strong></p><ul><li><p>Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for students, families and staff </p></li><li><p>Understanding barriers to student learning and counselling strategies to help students overcome these barriers </p></li><li><p>Experience with individual and group counselling </p></li><li><p>An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of young people </p></li><li><p>An awareness of the range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds </p></li><li><p>Knowledge of and experience in implementing positive transitions-care management programs in schools </p></li><li><p>An entrepreneurial spirit, with a drive to develop new programs and new solutions to meet community needs </p></li><li><p>Experience in teaching and implementing conflict resolution </p></li><li><p>Strong critical thinking, problem-solving ability and flexibility </p></li><li><p>Proficient in the Google Suite of applications </p></li><li><p>Experience with confidential safeguarding online platforms such as CPOMS </p></li><li><p>Must have strong written and verbal English communication skills </p></li><li><p>Commitment to and interest in a progressive educational environment</p></li></ul><p><strong>Required Qualifications </strong></p><ul><li><p>M.Ed.or higher in School Counselling (consideration for other school counselling degrees with suitable experience in school counselling responsibilities) </p></li><li><p>Further safeguarding training or qualifications for working with young people </p></li><li><p>Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a School Counsellor, particularly in an international setting </p></li></ul>
