Self-Employed Qualified Counsellor (Bank Counsellor) (Internal Applicants Only)

Self-Employed Qualified Counsellor (Bank Counsellor) (Internal Applicants Only)

Term: Hourly

Job Description

Listening Post is currently looking for self-employed qualified counsellors who would be interested in joining our “bank counselling” programme. This is a scheme whereby we maintain a relationship with a bank of qualified counsellors, connecting them to clients who are seeking counselling and providing access to our facilities for the counselling sessions.

When a client is able to contribute £35 or more for a session we ask if they would be happy to be connected with one of our bank of qualified counsellors. This generally results in a shorter waiting time for the client, and a guarantee that they will be seeing a qualified counsellor (rather than the possibility of seeing a student counsellor on placement). Listening Post will then liaise with the counsellor and provide a room for the counselling to take place in, access to our client management system, receptionist duties and certain other administrative tasks, as well as arranging and providing free supervision for the counsellor. The counsellor in turn must hold their own insurance, must agree to work within the BACP ethical framework, must agree to abide by our various policies (safeguarding, diversity, data protection, etc.), and as a self-employed contractor will be responsible for paying their own tax and National Insurance, and invoicing us for any sessions carried out (at a rate of £18 per session).

Please note that we only offer this position to counsellors who already hold at least two clients on a voluntary basis with us.

Job Specification Degree/Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling or Psychotherapy. Experience working with trauma, complex needs and level 4/5 clients. Professional Indemnity Insurance covering working as a counsellor. Experience of working with a wide range of client presentations and challenging areas of mental distress. Experience of counselling remotely via telephone and video link. Be a member of BACP, UKCP or equivalent. Have voluntary accredited registration. Excellent communication skills (written and spoken). IT skills – proficient in the use of Microsoft packages including Office 365. Desire to consult and interact well with Listening Post staff and volunteers. Excellent Time and Diary Management. Ability to contact allocated clients in a timely manner within 72hrs of allocation unless otherwise agreed with TL or member of the CM team. Ability to work co-operatively with team members. Willingness to work flexibly to include some evening work. Dedication to furthering welfare of Listening Post. Drive and efficiency. Group supervision sessions will be arranged for you free of charge for your Listening Post and Bank Counselling clients. A full induction is provided. Listening Post counsellors gain access to our full CPD programme, including reflective practice groups, free training sessions and a reduced price for our external CPD that includes training with working with Trauma. Full support for your counselling with an experienced team, with a team leader assigned for your centre and our Clinical Management Team, as well as administrative and IT support. Listening Post will advertise for clients to offer to you and carry out initial contact and assessment of clients. Listening Post will provide premises for the counselling to take place in. Listening Post will provide access to our Microsoft 365 and Cliniko systems for managing clients. #J-18808-Ljbffr
