SEND Functional Skills Tutor - Part-Time | Leicester, Leicestershire | £125+ per day | Part time

We are recruiting a SEND Functional Skills Tutor to work with an education provider in Leicester, delivering targeted Functional Skills tuition to young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a flexible, part-time opportunity, offering 3-5 days per week, with up to 5 hours of teaching per day. The role can suit an experienced teacher or tutor looking for a flexible working pattern alongside other commitments. The successful candidate will deliver structured, differentiated learning, primarily across English and Maths Functional Skills, adapting teaching around each learner's individual needs, abilities and starting points. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver Functional Skills teaching tailored to individual learners. Deliver English and Maths Functional Skills across relevant levels. Assess starting points and identify areas requiring additional support. Develop individual learning plans and set achievable targets. Differentiate teaching, resources and activities for learners with SEND. Provide individual and small-group tuition where required. Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments and qualifications. Monitor progress and maintain accurate learner records. Adapt teaching strategies where learners require additional support. Work alongside teaching assistants and other education and SEND professionals. Contribute to learner reviews and provide feedback on progress. Use appropriate digital resources and educational technology to support learning. Follow safeguarding, SEND and organisational policies. Supporting Learners with SEND Previous experience supporting learners with additional needs is important. You will need to adapt your approach around individual barriers to learning, including pace, communication, sensory needs, confidence and levels of adult support. Essential Requirements A relevant qualification in education, SEND or a related discipline. At least two years' relevant teaching or tutoring experience with learners with SEND. Experience planning and delivering differentiated learning. A good understanding of additional learning needs and inclusive teaching. Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to assess starting points and monitor progress. Good communication, organisation and record-keeping skills. Confidence using digital learning resources. Ability to work independently and as part of an education team. Desirable Experience Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths. Knowledge of Functional Skills assessments and qualifications. Experience developing individual learning plans. Knowledge of EHCPs and individual SEND outcomes. Experience supporting learners working towards recognised qualifications. Relevant specialist SEND training. Pay & Working Pattern £125+ per day, depending on qualifications and experience.
