Senior Head Waiter/Waitress

Le Cafe du Marche is an independent French restaurant, based in Clerkenwell, London.

Established in 1986, we serve French food in rustic, convivial surrounds, with live jazz music every evening. Our reservation diary is open for bookings from Tuesdays to Saturdays.


We are looking for a full time Senior Head Waiter/waitress to join our team.
The Senior Head Waiter/waitress must have previous experience in a fine dining restaurant; be able to open bottles of wine, able to communicate with our guests in a polite, friendly manner. Must have a good personality to entertain our diners. Trustworthy, good initiative, problem solver and able to lead a team in the absence of the managers.
The Senior Head Waiter/waitress job requires to set up the tables, take drink and food orders, serve food and drinks, maintain the tables with high standards. The Senior Head Waiter/waitress needs to be able to describe every dish we have on the menu. Good knowledge of reservation systems (opentable, sevenrooms)

The knowledge of the French language is beneficial.

What we offer:
  • starting guaranteed hourly rate of £15 (made of £12.71 basic plus £2.79 tronc) plus variable monthly tronc shared by point system
  • Possibility of promotion to a higher position within the restaurant based on performance

  • In the evening the restaurant closes at 11pm so not late finish

  • Closure at Easter, Christmas and New Year
