Senior Network Engineer, Commercial Energy Storage

What to Expect
Join Tesla Energy’s network team supporting commercial energy storage across EMEA and the UK. This is a hands-on, operational Senior Network Engineer role focused on implementation, triage, and production support.
You will own regional network delivery for energy sites, deploy and validate within established architecture, act as a senior escalation point, and keep services reliable under real customer expectations. Strong production networking fundamentals and an operations mindset matter most. You will coach peers where needed while staying deep in day-to-day delivery.
This is not a pure architecture, program management, or design-only role. Success means owning production operations: deployments, incident response, on-call, and continuous improvement of live network services.

What You'll Do
  • Own and improve production network services for commercial energy storage sites across EMEA and the UK
  • Act as a senior (Tier 3) escalation point for complex network incidents and changes
  • Gather requirements, analyze issues, and propose practical networking solutions
  • Provision, implement, test/validate, and maintain networking services remotely, using regional staging environments
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on network service health and performance
  • Document network knowledge and operational runbooks
  • Partner with field, product, and security teams to keep sites compliant, supportable, and secure
  • Mentor and support other network engineers on deployments and operational best practices
  • Participate in an on-call rotation; occasional weekends, after-hours, and holiday coverage as needed
  • Travel approximately 15% as required

What You'll Bring
Required
  • Several years of production network engineering experience with operational ownership (incidents, changes, on-call)
  • Strong hands-on IP networking: L2/L3 (e.g. spanning-tree, OSPF and/or BGP), TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, QoS, ACLs, and high availability (e.g. VRRP, LACP)
  • Hands-on experience with common enterprise switching and routing platforms (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or equivalent)
  • Experience with firewall and VPN services (e.g. Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX, Palo Alto Networks, or equivalent), including IPSec VPN and related security controls
  • Experience supporting production network services for internal or external customers under time pressure
  • Ability to write clear operational documentation and runbooks
  • Comfortable working occasional off-hours and participating in on-call
  • Willingness to travel (~15%) as needed

Preferred
  • SD-WAN and/or modern fabric technologies (e.g. EVPN with VXLAN)
  • Network automation (Ansible, Python, shell scripting, or similar)
  • Observability and troubleshooting tooling (e.g. SNMP, NetFlow, packet capture, IPAM, RADIUS, Splunk or equivalent)
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with external customer support
  • CCNP or equivalent networking certification
