Sheffield Design Panel

The Sheffield Design Panel provides independent design advice on development proposals across the city. The panel's advice is a material consideration in the planning process and helps support high-quality buildings, public spaces and sustainable development. Panel members provide independent and constructive advice during design review sessions. The panel considers a range of development proposals and helps promote good design across Sheffield's built environment. We are interested in hearing from applicants with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • sustainability
  • urban design
  • architecture
  • landscape architecture
  • conservation
  • development

    experience of working in the public, private or voluntary sector
  • knowledge of development and design issues
  • experience of regeneration or placemaking projects
  • knowledge of sustainability, including site and building design
  • relevant professional qualifications, memberships or experience

    Appointments are for a 3-year term from 2026 to 2029.
  • Panel members receive £130 per day, pro rata for attendance at meetings. Meetings are usually held at Sheffield Town Hall.
