Social Media Manager & Content Creator

Social Media & Content Creator – Red Hot Raffles

Full time – Richmond, North Yorkshire

I’m looking for someone to come and join us at Red Hot Raffles and basically take a big chunk of our social media and content creation off me.

I started Red Hot Raffles as a family business and a huge reason behind everything we do is my daughter Emilia.

Emilia has cerebral palsy, is non-verbal and needs 24-hour care. Over the years we’ve had to fund a lot of equipment, therapy and things that can make her life easier, and that journey has played a massive part in what Red Hot Raffles has become.

As the business has grown, it’s also allowed us to do some brilliant things for other people and our local community, which I want us to do a lot more of.

The problem I've got now is that the business has grown, the social pages have grown, and I’m still the one sat thinking “what are we filming tomorrow?”

So I need some help!

What I’m actually looking for

I’m not really looking for someone to just make nice graphics and schedule Facebook posts.

We already pay people to do that.

I want somebody creative.

Someone who is constantly looking at TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube etc and spotting what's working.

Someone who sees a trend and immediately thinks “we could do this with Gordon/the team/a winner/a car/a massive cash prize...”

Then actually gets the camera or phone out and makes it.

Reels and short-form video are going to be a massive part of the job.

You need to be comfortable coming up with the idea, filming it, editing it and getting it out there without needing me to hold your hand through every stage.

I don't mind being in the videos. The team can be in them. We've got winners, cars, holidays, tech, cash prizes and all sorts of weird and wonderful things going on that we can use for content.

I'm pretty open to making a fool of myself as well if the idea is good enough

I just want someone else coming through the door with the ideas for a change!

I also want someone who gets the numbers

This bit is really important to me.

I'm quite obsessive about the numbers behind the business and I want the same attitude towards our content.

I don't just want to hear:

“That Reel did really well.”

I want to know WHY it did really well.

Why did people keep watching it?

Where did they drop off?

Did they share it?

Did non-followers see it?

Did it bring followers in?

Did people click through to the website?

Did it actually help sell tickets?

And if one video gets 5,000 views and another gets 500,000, what was different?

Was it the first 3 seconds? The subject? The edit? The person in it? The length? The caption? Was it just the right trend at the right time?

Then we use that information to make the next one better.

I'm not expecting someone to be a data scientist, but I definitely want someone who likes looking at analytics rather than avoiding them.

What you'd be doing

A lot of your time will be spent creating content for Red Hot Raffles — particularly Reels, TikToks and other short-form video.

There'll also be competition launches, winner videos, behind-the-scenes stuff, funny/reactive content, bigger promotional ideas and whatever else we can come up with.

We've also got the Yorkshire Triplets social pages, which have a large established following and give us a completely different type of content to play around with as well.

I'd like somebody who can gradually take ownership of all of this.

Not somebody waiting for me to message at 9am with today's instructions.

If anything, I want it the other way around.

You message me telling me what we're doing today.

What are we like to work for?

Very informal.

We're a family business and there isn't loads of corporate nonsense.

You won't have to arrange a meeting to arrange another meeting so we can decide whether we're allowed to make a TikTok !!!!

If you've got a good idea, we'll normally just try it.

If it works, brilliant.

If it bombs, we'll look at why and try something else.

I'm not bothered if every video looks like it's had a £20,000 production budget either. Some of the best-performing content on social is somebody with an iPhone who understands exactly what will make people watch the next 10 seconds.

There will obviously be planning involved, particularly around our bigger competitions, but I want us to be able to react quickly as well.

Who would suit this?

You might already be a Social Media Manager or Content Creator.

You might be working for an agency and be sick of having 15 clients and never really getting the chance to build one brand properly.

You might be a brilliant videographer/editor who understands social.

Or you might have built your own pages and have the results to prove you know exactly what you're doing.

I'm not particularly bothered about degrees or having a certain number of years' experience.

I'd much rather see what you've actually made.

Experience with things like CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Canva, Photoshop etc is obviously useful, but again, I care more about what comes out the other end.

One important thing...

This is mainly an on-site role in Richmond, North Yorkshire but work from home for editing etc.

That's deliberate.

I don't want somebody sitting 200 miles away making graphics from photos we send them.

The whole point is that I want someone here, around the business, seeing what's going on, grabbing the camera when something happens and creating content with us.

Interested?

Send me your CV, but more importantly send me some of your work.

I'd love to see 3–5 pieces of content you've personally created.

And when I say personally created, I mean stuff where you actually had a meaningful part in the idea/filming/editing, rather than a campaign your agency happened to work on.

It doesn't need millions of views either.

If you've made something really clever that you're proud of, send it.

If you've had something go properly viral, definitely send that too!

And tell me what your best-performing piece of content was and why you think it worked.

If you have a look through Red Hot Raffles before applying and immediately start thinking:

“They should be doing this…”

Perfect.

That's exactly the sort of person I'm looking for.
