Our software engineers invest in the future of Southwest by supporting the Business Travel Portal and Salesforce. The team works closely with the business team and executives to support planning and implementation of the Business Support Program and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). They translate business needs into technical requirements and contribute to new developments.
Summary of Duties
- Design, program code, test, document, and implement high-performance, technologically efficient systems based on customer requirements, organizational processes, and standards.
- Respond to production issues and implement resolution efforts immediately across all technical areas.
- Apply the knowledge and skills of software development and testing effectively to solve many problems.
- Collaborate with other engineers to optimize technology and apply best practices.
- Work closely with customers and functional departments to discuss status and plans.
- Document every aspect of the system or application for future upgrades and maintenance.
- Determine and analyze user needs, then develop software to meet those requirements.
- Identify and solve problems that arise during planning, analysis and design using problem-solving skills.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
- Prepare and implement solutions by identifying and developing process definitions, policies and programs.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Improve and expand technical skills by continuing training through reading, workshops, conferences, and communities of practice.
- May perform other duties as assigned by senior staff.
