Student Services Assistant

The post of Student Services Assistant is a varied and rewarding role that provides medical, pastoral and administrative support to students throughout the school day. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students who are unwell or injured, arranging first aid as necessary, administering medication in accordance with school procedures, and liaising with parents and staff to ensure students receive appropriate care and support.

The role also involves maintaining accurate medical records, monitoring healthcare plans, managing the medical room and first aid supplies, and providing administrative support to the wider school when required. The Student Services Assistant plays a key role in promoting student wellbeing, safeguarding and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of student services.

It is important for the successful candidate to be:

an effective communicator with students, parents and staff
calm, caring and approachable, particularly when supporting students who may be distressed or unwell
organised and able to manage a varied workload and competing priorities
trustworthy, reliable and able to maintain confidentiality at all times
able to work accurately and to a high standard
able to take initiative and make sound judgements when necessary
able to follow procedures, guidance and instructions carefully
confident in maintaining records and undertaking administrative tasks
committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
a team player who works positively with colleagues across the school

A current First Aid qualification is desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
