Job Description

Glasgow City Council is seeking to recruit Support for Learning Workers for placement within the Mainstream Primaries. Most post will be 27.5 hours term time, however there maybe a number of posts with less hours. Timescales for appointments may differ, with potential for further vacancies arising in the coming months. After interview, candidates may be placed on hold subject to vacancies becoming available within this school year.


The Support for Learning Worker plays a key role in the modern school environment in providing support and assistance to children and young people with additional support needs to access the curriculum.


The main duties and responsibilities include the provision of care and support to children whilst building positive working relationships and promoting positive behaviour.


This position also includes the provision of support with the supervision and administration of medication and intimate personal care.


Please note successful candidates will be required to pay for the costs associated with PVG Scheme Membership/Checks and regulatory body registration where required.


The salary shown is the current salary for this post. Under the Council’s new Pay and Grading Structure, which is due to be implemented from 4 April 2027, the salary for this role is expected to increase to £18,447.95. Further information will be provided to candidates during the recruitment process.
