Based at Headway House in Credenhill, we provide specialist rehabilitation, social care, therapies, and community support for adults with acquired brain injury, as well as vital respite and advice for their families and carers.</p><p><strong>The Opportunity</strong></p><p>We are seeking passionate, forward-thinking individuals to join our friendly, dedicated Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of Herefordshire Headway, ensuring sound governance, financial resilience, and long-term sustainability as we continue expanding our services.</p><p>While we welcome applications from a diverse range of professional backgrounds, we are particularly keen to hear from individuals with expertise in:</p><ul><li><strong>Financial Management / Accountancy:</strong> Supporting our board with financial oversight, budgeting, and long-term financial planning.</li><li><strong>Marketing, Communications & Social Media:</strong> Helping amplify our voice across the region, raise public awareness, and boost fundraising engagement across digital channels.</li></ul><p><strong>What You Will Bring</strong></p><ul><li>Strategic vision and sound independent judgement.</li><li>A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to prepare for and attend board meetings.</li><li>Strong communication and collaborative teamwork skills.</li><li>A genuine commitment to the values and mission of Herefordshire Headway.</li><li><em>Note: Prior board or trustee experience is not required; full induction and mentoring are provided.</em></li></ul><p><strong>Term of Office & Governance</strong></p><ul><li>Trustees are appointed for an initial <strong>three-year term</strong> (though you may resign at any point prior should your personal or professional circumstances change).</li><li>To ensure orderly board renewal while maintaining vital institutional knowledge, <strong>one-third of the board retires by rotation each year</strong>.</li><li>Retiring trustees are entitled to put themselves forward for <strong>re-election</strong>, ensuring we retain skilled, committed contributors who wish to continue supporting the charity's mission.</li></ul><p><strong>Time Commitment & Meetings</strong></p><ul><li>Approximately 4 to 8 hours per month.</li><li>Bi-monthly board meetings held at Headway House in Credenhill (hybrid/virtual attendance options available).</li><li>Occasional involvement in working groups or advisory support matching your professional expertise.</li></ul><p><strong>What We Offer</strong></p><ul><li>The opportunity to make a tangible, lasting difference to the lives of people living with brain injuries and their families.</li><li>Strategic leadership experience within a respected local charity.</li><li>Trustee induction and ongoing support</li></ul>
