Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?<br><br><strong>Summary<br><br></strong>Utility Technician, under the general supervision of the Crew Leader, installs, repairs, and maintains water and wastewater infrastructure, operating related equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and traffic control standards.<br><br><strong>Essential Duties And Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Repairs water and wastewater lines; cleans and inspects pipes; installs repair parts and evaluates effectiveness of repair</li><li>Installs water and wastewater infrastructure including, but not limited to, mains, services, and laterals; taps and meters; valves; manholes; air relief valves; fire hydrants; cleanouts, etc.</li><li>Assists in excavation; operates air hammer to break rock and asphalt; uses pick and shovel to remove dirt and rock from excavations; uses probe to locate pipes</li><li>Cleans wastewater lines; uses hand and / or machine rods to unclog or clean mains & laterals</li><li>Performs line locates of water and wastewater infrastructure in accordance with Texas One Call laws</li><li>Cleans & maintains tools and equipment</li><li>Drives various trucks, primarily dump trucks, to haul material related to the repair and installation of water and wastewater infrastructure</li><li>Loads, unloads, and operates dump trucks and other heavy equipment</li><li>Installs traffic control in strict accordance with state and federal manuals of traffic control devices</li><li>Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Certificates and Licenses<br><br></strong><ul><li>Class A CDL License and Tanker Endorsement upon hire / advancement</li><li>TCEQ Licenses D Water and Collection I<br><br><br></li></ul>Thank you for your interest in the position.
