The role requires strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and healthcare documentation standards while maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Responsibilities Transcribe physicians' dictated discharge summaries with high accuracy. Edit and proofread transcribed documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and medical terminology. Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and follows hospital or client guidelines. Verify patient demographics, diagnoses, procedures, medications, and follow-up instructions. Flag incomplete or unclear dictations for physician clarification. Meet daily productivity and turnaround time (TAT) targets. Maintain compliance with patient confidentiality and applicable healthcare privacy regulations. Use transcription software, speech recognition tools, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems effectively. Maintain quality standards with minimal errors. Medical terminology knowledge Excellent listening and comprehension skills Strong attention to detail Time management Proofreading and editing Keyboard proficiency Ability to work independently Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems Experience transcribing discharge summaries, operative reports, history & physicals, consultation notes, and clinic notes. Familiarity with speech recognition editing and quality assurance processes. Skills Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred). Certification or training in Medical Transcription is preferred. 25 years of medical transcription experience (discharge summaries preferred). Excellent English grammar, spelling, and typing skills. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and diagnostic procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transcription software. Typing speed of 5070 WPM with high accuracy.
