U-Haul is seeking a Digital Marketing Email Strategist to lead the strategy and execution of customer engagement through email. This role owns the email channel end to end: strategy, segmentation, automation, and performance. You'll build lifecycle campaigns that drive acquisition, conversion, and retention, and partner with app and SMS teams to keep messaging consistent across channels. You will work cross-functionally with business units, design, and analytics teams to deliver personalized, data-driven email experiences at scale.

What You'll Do:

Email Strategy

  • Develop and execute lifecycle email strategies that drive acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention
  • Own the email calendar, from promotional sends to automated lifecycle journey's
  • Contribute best practices and learnings with fellow team members to raise the bar for strategic delivery across the team


Campaign Execution
  • Lead campaign setup, segmentation, automation, and optimization within Airship
  • Manage audience targeting, triggers, and personalization logic
  • Conduct discovery meetings with business units to identify and establish campaign requirements for successful campaign execution


Lifecycle & Customer Journey Optimization
  • Design end-to-end email journeys for onboarding, abandoned cart, transactional, and win-back campaigns
  • Turn customer data and campaign results into actionable insights and recommendations that optimize performance
  • Continuously test and optimize using A/B and multivariate experimentation through Airship


Content & Campaign Development
  • Partner with design to create on-brand creative assets
  • Build and maintain reusable email templates and design systems in Airship


Performance & Analytics
  • Analyze campaign performance using GA4, PowerBI, and Airship reporting
  • Track open rate, CTR, CVR, deliverability, and revenue impact
  • Turn performance data into concrete recommendations


Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Coordinate with app and SMS teams for consistent, well-timed messaging
  • Work with business units to align email with customer needs across multiple U-Haul business lines
  • Partner with business units to lead business reviews that go beyond usage metrics to demonstrate clear financial impact and strategic return


What We're Looking For:
  • 3 to 6+ years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing or equivalent.
  • Experience designing CRM - multi-channel customer engagement strategies across two or more channels (email, mobile, SMS, web, )
  • Strong data-driven storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear actionable strategy
  • Hands-on experience with Airship or a similar ESP (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo)
  • Strong HTML and CSS skills for email template builds
  • Proven ability to build and optimize customer journey flows
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
  • Strong analytical skills (GA4, reporting tools, performance tracking)
  • Experience with PowerBI for reporting
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills


Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with app messaging (push notifications, in-app messages)
  • Familiarity with SMS/text strategy
  • Experience with multi-channel orchestration across email, app, and SMS
  • Background in eCommerce, marketplaces, or high-volume consumer platforms
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience with Databricks or another data warehouse
  • Experience with PowerBI or Looker Studio
  • Experience LiveClicker or a similar email personalization tool
