Experienced Cake Decorator – Full Time

Schedule: Weekday and weekend shifts (weekend availability essential)

Cakes & Bakes Croydon is looking for a skilled, creative and experienced Cake Decorator to join our busy cake shop.

We are seeking someone with a minimum of 2 years of professional cake decorating experience, who can work confidently and independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent quality and presentation standards.

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience working with fresh cream cakes, buttercream cakes and customised celebration cakes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decorate fresh cream and buttercream cakes to a high professional standard.
  • Create customised birthday, wedding, anniversary and other celebration cakes.
  • Produce smooth finishes, piping designs, borders and decorative details.
  • Work from customer photographs, designs and specific requirements.
  • Prepare and decorate multiple cakes daily while meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain consistency, presentation and quality across all products.
  • Ensure cleanliness, food hygiene and organisation of the decorating area.
  • Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of professional cake decorating experience – essential.
  • Strong practical experience with fresh cream and buttercream decorating techniques.
  • Proven ability to create customised celebration cakes.
  • Excellent piping, finishing and cake presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple orders.
  • Good attention to detail, creativity and time management.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy cake shop.
  • Must be available to work weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays as required.
