GCP Cloud Engineer – Active SC/DV Clearance

Job Overview
We are looking for experienced GCP engineers with active SC or DV clearance to join secure cloud projects for UK public sector and defence clients. You'll work in a hands-on engineering role, building and running Google Cloud platforms where security and reliability really matter. You'll be part of a small, capable team, working closely with architects and security specialists to take designs from paper to live environments. It's a good fit for someone who enjoys owning their work and wants to work on projects that make a real difference.

Duties

  • Build, configure and manage Google Cloud environments, including networking, IAM, storage and compute
  • Set up and run Kubernetes clusters on GKE, keeping them stable, secure and up to date
  • Write and maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform so environments can be rebuilt reliably
  • Build and look after CI/CD pipelines in GitLab or similar tools to automate deployments
  • Put monitoring, logging and alerting in place so problems are picked up early
  • Apply security controls to meet government standards, such as NCSC Cloud Security Principles
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues across the platform, and help with incidents when needed
  • Work with architects and security teams to turn designs into working infrastructure
  • Keep clear documentation of builds, configurations and changes

Requirements

  • Active SC or DV security clearance
  • Sole UK national, because of the security level of the work
  • Strong experience with GKE and containers
  • Good working knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD tools
  • A solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM and security best practice
  • Comfortable working on your own and as part of a wider engineering team

It would also help if you have:

  • A Google Cloud certification, such as Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
  • Experience in air-gapped or highly secure environments
  • Previous work on UK government or defence projects

If this sounds like you, apply with your CV and let us know your clearance level and availability.

Pay: £450.00-£700.00 per day
