Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and timely investigations into suspicious activity reports (SARs) and other alerts generated by monitoring systems, ensuring comprehensive documentation and audit trails.
- Perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) on high-risk clients, entities, and complex transactions, evaluating potential financial crime risks and presenting findings clearly.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, including Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) or Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), to relevant authorities within mandated timeframes.
- Stay abreast of evolving AML, Sanctions, and ABC regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices, translating changes into operational procedures and controls.
- Collaborate proactively with internal stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, and various Business units to ensure consistent application of AFC policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs related to financial crime prevention for internal teams.
- Participate in internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews, providing necessary documentation and detailed explanations.
- Identify process efficiencies, contribute to the enhancement of AFC tools, systems, and methodologies, and support strategic projects aimed at strengthening the control environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Anti-Financial Crime (AFC), AML, Sanctions, or Compliance within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of global AML/CTF regulations (e.g., UK MLRs, FATF recommendations, JMLSG guidance, OFAC sanctions).
- Proven analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to manage, interpret, and draw conclusions from large and complex datasets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing clear, concise, and defensible reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure regulatory environment.
- Strong ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to upholding regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- ACAMS, ICA, or other relevant professional certification in financial crime prevention.
- Experience with transaction monitoring systems, case management tools, and other compliance technology platforms.
- Familiarity with wholesale banking, capital markets, wealth management, or asset management products and associated financial crime risks.
- Experience working in an international or global financial institution with exposure to multi-jurisdictional regulations.
