SOUTH INDIAN CHEF – BIRYANI & CURRIES

Location: Bexley, Kent, UK
Salary: £33,500 – £34,500 per annum

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate South Indian Chef to join our culinary team at a South Indian restaurant based in Bexley, Kent. The successful candidate will have strong experience in preparing authentic South Indian cuisine, including Hyderabad Dum Biryani, starters, curries, and vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The role requires excellent culinary skills, attention to food quality and hygiene, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy professional kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook authentic South Indian dishes according to menu specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare Hyderabad Dum Biryani, starters, curries, and other vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation and portion sizes.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety.
  • Monitor stock levels, minimise food waste and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Assist with menu preparation and development where required.
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently during busy service periods.
  • Maintain compliance with UK health and safety and food hygiene requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a South Indian Chef in a restaurant or professional kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of South Indian cooking techniques, ingredients and flavours.
  • Experience preparing Biryani, curries, starters, and vegetarian/non-vegetarian dishes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to supervise and work collaboratively with kitchen staff.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for authentic Indian cuisine and maintaining high food-quality standards.

Pay: £33,500.00-£34,500.00 per year
